Anybody ever felt like you forgot something. . . but just couldn't put your finger on it? . . . . . .
Well that's been my week! My schedule kept switching back/forth/sideways/upside-down? I hate it when that happens and I don't feel in control! Suprise this morning when finally getting to settle down in the chair with a cup of coffee (Mark describes my coffee as candy- vanilla flavored), when I read Sheron's blog and am hit by the stark realization that I've STOOD BRANDON UP, OH NO! I didn't even think about our planned lunch on Monday when all- Hell broke loose with my schedule and I had to change my plan to come to Austin.
So here it is, Brandon. . . I AM SOOOOOO SORRY AND FEEL LIKE SUCH A HEEL! Please forgive your old aunt and her hormonally imbalanced memory! I expect to get to Austin within the next few weeks and I will give you a call to plan another date, (that is, if you think you would still like to, after all, most folks wouldn't want to have anything to do with me after such a bungle?) No seriously, I love you and hope you didn't think I just didn't care. I've laughed with Sheron about our calendars and how they serve as our road maps. When someone throws a monkey-wrench into the plans- well, craziness insues.
This weekend I've planned to have some fun redoing old furniture that I picked up at a hotel liquidation. I've got end tables and chairs, 2 armoires, iron bed set, rattan TV stand, sofa table, etc. . . Felt like I'd hit a home-run -getting it all for WAY WAY Less than buying a simple chair.
So far, I've refinished one of the armoires, sofa table-turned desk for my office, and iron bed for guest room. The plan is to finish the rest this weekend- (Good luck, right?) Really, though I find it fun and very enjoyable work. But my flower beds are suffering, 'cause I've not gotten to them in quite a while and must soon- with the rains they look really shabby. ANY TAKERS?
Next weekend is Allison's big weekend! We are looking forward to seeing you, Jorge and our boys! I really hope Aiden & Alex love kisses and hugs from crazy Aunts! You will really have to prepare them for the Griffin sister type onslaught, LOL! I'm bringing the camera so Blair can post lots of pics on our page.
Mark is going to be in Portland Monday through Thurs. and told his bosses that he'd make the trip, of course, but he absolutely had to be home by Thurs. night for our trip to Denver or someone else would have to go. That's my sweetie! He spent so many years working 24/7 and still does have to burn the candle, but keeps the priorities close. I remember years ago when Meredith was a tiny baby, he was struggling with a job offer and moving us to Saudie Arabia. The money would have been FABULOUS and TAX-FREE, but it would have meant a seven-year commitment. His major concern was that Meredith's early years being raised in a country that could inhibit her growth, (female) and even living on a farm out away from any city she and I would be forced to live under very different constraints. We worried that she wouldn't know her family except for very rare visits home. Even today, he says he made the right choice keeping us here. Some might disagree - just depends on what your definition of success may be, right?
I can't believe it's August already! Devin starts to Montgomery College August 27th and has most everything taken care of and enrolled in classes for first semester. He's got 16 hours and is working part-time and I think that's plenty! Got his first ticket last week for rolling through a stop sign after leaving a friend's house late at night. Guess the officer thought it would be an easy DUI, but thank goodness Devin knows that if he chooses to drink- don't drive! He came home madder than an old wet hen! But he kept his cool with the officer and used his "yes sirs, no sirs". So he's taking defensive driving on-line to get that off his record.
Now here's a funny to follow Devin's story. . . I got stopped for speeding! 68 in a 65, LOL! I got a warning! I was rushing to the next potty-stop and about to BUST! Guess the officer felt I couldn't possibly be faking holding my side and scrunched up face contorted in pain! But he did keep me from my destination for about 15 minutes! I thought I was going to die!!!!! He had to ask me where I was going, why I was going there, who I was seeing, and that he'd been raised there. . . then I got to hear a story about the town. I was quickly getting to the point of asking him if he could stand at the back of my Explorer and keep talking while I discreetly tinkled on the side of the highway, LOL! Oh well, somehow God gave my bladder, even if it was for a 30 minute time, super stretching power. Once I got to the next town, it was Katy-bar-the-door at the Quickie-Stop! Thank God, there was multiple stalls! LOL! If there hadn't been I would have had to use the sink, UGGGGH!
Ok, more later on the never-ending sagas of Tressie's travels.
Love,
Tress
