Hi you guys!
We had a very enjoyable weekend with our kids. Did Texas Motor Speedway and race trim breakfast, (you'll have to ask Mark for details on that!). I like watching all the excitement and the crowd amping up for the spectacle. If you've never done the race, you really should consider it at least once in your life. Very Cool! Vince Vaughn, the actor, drove the pace pickup truck to start the race - first time that had been allowed! He had to take classes to learn to do it correctly and from what we could see- he was clutching the wheel TIGHT! I can't say I blame him! Can you imagine- all those cars behind you pushing you, pushing you? (Ok, sort of like traffic on the way home on the interstate, BUT MUCH FASTER!

I decided that Stevie is old enough for a baby sister-and I wanted to adopt or rescue a mini schnauzer. I took a look at the shelters on-line through petfinder.com and found a poodle rescue center that had some parti-schnauzer pups. Made the calls and filled out her adoption papers Friday and got to visit her at the shelter. Truly interesting story- the lady that owns the poodle rescue group is from Amarillo originally. She and her sister heard about a puppy factory where the owner (a little quirky old lady) had passed away without any family members. They flew to Illinois to rescue the poodles there and rented 2 panel trucks to bring the dogs back to Houston. The Sheriff said that the poodles had been without food or water for some time and that finding the lady dead in her home (natural causes) was truly sad. The lady from Amarillo asked about the black/white dogs (2) that were not looking too well. They couldn't tell what the breed was at the time, but couldn't bear to leave them behind.

So as they say, they loaded up the trucks and moved to Houstonly with all their new friends. After cleaning them all up, getting shots, etc. . . they found that the black/white dogs were a pair of parti-mini schnauzers 1 male/1female. They guessed that the lady was going to try her hand at breeding schnoodles (very popular they say!) About 2 weeks later, the female dropped 2 very healthy pups (1 male & 1 female). Mom & Dad aren't adoptable as they aren't acclimated to human touch or contact - So very sad! The pups are incredibly healthy and sweet as pie. It's really amazing that they have no health problems or at the very least, intelligence issues. The little female, is soo cocky- she dances around and follows your feet batting at your ankles and she's barely 6 weeks old. Too cute! I'll send pics of she and Stevie when we get her home later this week. I know, I'm a softy! But she'll not have a better home or people to love her than us, right?

Love,
Tress
