Good Morning everyone! I hope that you are all well. I’m sorry that it has been awhile since I last blogged, but it’s been a little hectic. So head to the bathroom before you continue reading because this might be a long blog J
Christmas was great up here. Chad got to come down for about 6 days so that was the best Christmas present for me. The boys had a blast with their uncle. They were wrestling, playing, dogpiling him and anything else you can think of. I was short on cash this Christmas so Chad came through with plenty of gifts from “Santa”. He bought Alex a bunch of Thomas the Train stuff, so needless to say my living room is always covered with different track layouts. Plus all the trains are motorized so I’ve gone through a ton of batteries. One night I was thinking about how toys these days don’t allow the kids to use their imaginations. They all move or make some sort of noise. Not that I’m that old or anything, but I don’t remember all my toys having batteries! Aidan got a ton of Hot Wheels stuff so now I’m always nagging him to put them away. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have girlie stuff around the house. I feel like there is too much testosterone at times! While Chad was down, we also went to the Nature and Science Museum here. It was quite fun. Chad commented on how Aidan was more interested in the Flip information boards than the huge dinosaur skeleton that was above his head. I just laughed cause it’s true. I took quite a few pictures so I will send them to Blair since I now have a digital camera and it’s easy to send them. Tressie, I’m sorry I didn’t answer when you called. I was picking Chad up from the airport at that time, but thank you for thinking of us!
I also have some exciting news. Well I think it’s exciting at least. My job is starting the Biggest Loser challenge and I have joined. There are teams of 4 members and it runs from January 5 to April 30th. This past year has been quite stressful and I just kind of put myself on the back burner….again, and I gained about 20 pounds back. I lost all motivation to work out and even though I am still a vegetarian I wasn’t eating properly. Well something finally clicked in my mind and I’m now back on track. It’s so weird cause before I had little control over my cravings and couldn’t care less to work out, but now it’s not even a second thought in my mind. My goal is to lose around 50 pounds if I can keep that up in a healthy way. It might not happen in the 4 months, but that is what I’m working towards. I also want to inform everyone about a fitness challenge that I will be competing in around the end of February. It is called “Run the Republic”. It is a stair challenge, 56 flights of stairs to be exact, and it takes place in the tallest building in Denver. It is to benefit Lung Cancer. If anyone would like to sponsor me, $10 or $20 dollars is fine, I would appreciate it. Just let me know. It seems like quite a daunting challenge, but I’m up for it as long as my training keeps on track.
Aidan started back to school this week. We didn’t get out of routine too much since he still went to daycare over the break, but now it’s back to homework and reading projects. I was offered another position here at work which entails working with the Refugee caseload. I’ve been covering the caseload temporarily for the past 3 weeks, but a permanent position was offered to me earlier this week. I unfortunately had to decline it since I would lose my bilingual pay. With the economy the way it is, I just can’t afford to lose any money. They’ve already informed us that we won’t be getting raises or bonuses this year so I’m pretty much at the same pay for the next 2 years. They have also imposed furlough days. Our first mandatory one was the day after Christmas. Now I’m feeling it on this paycheck. But I’m blessed to still have a job. This is a scary thing for my generation because we have never experienced anything like this before. It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around how long this could last. You just have to keep the faith that things will be ok.
Well I think that’s about all for now. I wish everyone a great day and I love you all.
